9 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Golden Monkey Trekking rewards you with an extensive primates experience. This safari takes you through the rich biodiversity in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park.

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport: Day 1

Pickup from Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. Check in at your accommodation facility for relaxation. Have dinner and Overnight at the hotel, recharging for your 9 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Golden Monkey trekking Experience.

Game drive and Kazinga Channel Cruise: Day 2

Start your day with an early breakfast and head out for a morning game drive. Drive to the Ishasha sector to view the popular tree-climbing lions and proceed to Mweya Peninsula. You’ll enjoy incredible views of hippos, elephants, Buffaloes, lions, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, warthogs and so forth. Enjoy picnic lunch.

Spend your afternoon on a boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel. Enjoy Iconic landscapes and close-up views of Nile Crocodiles and Hippos, as well as other animals that come to the Nile for water. Return to your hotel for dinner and the overnight.

Birding Tour at Kibale National Park: Day 3

Transfer to Kibale National Park, en route Kikorongo for an Equator experience. Have a fun moment at the Equator, capturing lots of memories. Proceed to Kibale and check in at your hotel. Have lunch and enjoy a birding tour where you’ll view different species of birds. Some of these species include the Abyssinian Hornbill, Blue turaco, Grey crowned crested crane, kingfishers, weavers, secretary birds and so much more.

Chimpanzee Trekking: Day 4

Day 4 comes with a mind-blowing experience of chimpanzee trekking which usually lasts between 2 hours to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. During this trek, you’ll also be able to view various bird species and wildlife such as black and white colobus monkey, blue monkeys, olive baboons, otters, bushbucks, vervet monkeys and so forth, found within Kibale Forest.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary : Day 5

Begin your day with an early morning guided nature walk at the sanctuary. This long walk takes you through a wildlife corridor within Kibale forest lasting up to 3 hours. This lane rewards you with beautiful views of birds like the blue turaco, grey crowned cranes, kingfishers, weavers, hornbills and many more swamp endemics.

Mammals like the Olive baboons, blue monkeys, sitatungas, otters, bushbucks, golden monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red colobus are also common sightings. Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and check in at your hotel to recharge for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking: Day 6

Day 6 starts with a briefing from your guide before embarking on your mountain gorilla trekking experience. Hike through the dense rainforest, in search for the mountain gorillas. This activity can last up to 3 hours, allowing you to spend an hour with the gorillas once spotted. The sectors Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga and Ruhija are home to Bwindi’s gorilla families. Buhoma being the most accessible from Queen Elizabeth National Park. It is also less strenuous thus making it an easier trek for older tourists.

Batwa Cultural Experience: Day 7

The Batwa Cultural experience offers an immersive insight into the traditional forest life of the indigenous Batwa people. This encounter showcases their enthusiastic cultural dance and music, hunting skills, honey harvesting skills, storytelling and knowledge on medicinal plants. You’ll not only enjoy their history and family organization but also be able to support their community through proceeds from your visit. Spend your evening enjoying games at a fire place and the overnight at your hotel in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Golden Monkey Trekking: Day 8

Day 8 rewards you with an unforgettable trekking experience of golden monkeys and incredible views of the scenic Virunga Mountains on the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Uganda. Start your experience with a briefing at the park headquarters and proceed with your guide for the trek.

This activity can last between 30 minutes and 3 hours, depending on the location of the golden monkeys as they are always on the move, in search for food. These monkeys don’t leave clear evidence of the previous day’s location like mountain gorillas. Therefore while trekking, it is best that you look out for fresh bamboo shoots. Once you spot the golden monkeys, you’ll be allowed to spend 1 hour with them, capturing memories and observing their playful nature.

Departure: Day 9

Prepare for your departure from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and embark on your journey back to Kampala. Drop off at Entebbe International Airport, leaving Uganda with thousands of great memories!
