Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla national park
To begin your 3-day gorilla trekking safari, your guide welcomes you and subsequently provides a trip briefing. The full-day drive to Mgahinga National Park is an adventure itself! We first stop at the Equator for photos and souvenir shopping. Subsequently, we enjoy en-route lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center. Following lunch, the journey continues, offering spectacular views of Uganda’s countryside, terraced farmlands, and beautiful hills before you check into your lodge for the night.

Day two begins early with breakfast and a packed lunch. You will meet your driver-guide for a mandatory briefing on the gorilla trekking rules. Next, an experienced park guide, who knows the gorilla trails intimately, will lead you into the forest. The exciting search for the Mountain Gorillas in Mgahinga National Park typically takes 3 to 6 hours, depending on where the feeding gorillas have moved that day.
As you trek, look out for diverse bird species, striking black and white colobus monkeys, and fascinating plant life. Once you find the Mountain Gorillas, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing their social behaviors, from feeding and grooming to watching mothers breastfeed their young. This hour provides incredible opportunities to capture photos and videos of these gentle giants! Following this, return to the headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Then, meet your driver-guide and head back to the lodge for a well-deserved evening of relaxation.
Day 3: Departure to kampala
Conclude your gorilla trekking safari with a leisurely breakfast and check-out. Your guide will drive you back toward Kampala, first nevertheless, you’ll include a mid-day stop for lunch in Mbarara.
