Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest for the Canopy walk

On the first day of your 25-day East African Safari, our safari guide will pick you up in Kigali and drive you to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours, and you’ll have an early lunch along the way.

Upon arrival, you’ll head straight for a 2 p.m. canopy walk. This experience involves walking on a 50-meter-long swing bridge suspended 50 meters above the forest floor. The canopy walk provides a unique, bird’s-eye view of the rainforest, giving you a chance to spot wildlife from above. After the walk, you’ll check into your lodge to relax and have dinner.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking

After breakfast, you’ll be briefed on chimpanzee tracking before heading into the forest. Chimpanzees in Nyungwe are quite active and can be easily spotted as they move between trees, chattering and playing. The trek typically lasts 3 to 5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located.

Once you find them, you’ll have an hour to take photos and videos. Afterward, you’ll visit the waterfalls and look for various birds and other primates. Later, you’ll check into your booked accommodation for dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the primates before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The colobus monkeys are very playful and it may not be so easy to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. These primates also enable you to see other primates and takes about 3 hours. After finding them, spend an hour taking pictures and videos.

After tracking, continue on your safari to Volcanoes National Park home to the Rwanda gorillas and golden monkeys It’s a 7 hours’s drive with en-route views and lunch. Upon arrival in the afternoon, connect to your lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Cultural Tour & Golden Monkey Tracking

You will have breakfast and report back to the park headquarters, where you will get a ranger guide. Thereafter, start your golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park. This is a rather short experience that can last 1-3 hours. After spending time with the golden monkeys, you will go and have lunch, then connect to enjoy the Ibyi’wachu cultural tour.

Day 5: Transfer To Kigali City

On the 5th day of your 25-Day East African Safari, you’ll have a leisurely breakfast before heading back to Kigali. There, you’ll take a city tour that includes a visit to Kimironko Market and the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site, with lunch along the way.

Day 6: Transfer To Uganda

Depending on your flight time, you will be dropped off at Kigali airport for your onward flight to Uganda. Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer To Kibale National Park & Bigodi swamps

After breakfast, you will head to Kibale National Park, Africa’s top spot for chimpanzee trekking. You’ll get there in the early afternoon and have lunch in Fort Portal. From there, you’ll explore the crater lakes and take a 2–3-hour nature walks in the Bigodi swamp.

The Bigodi swamp is a haven for nature lovers. You can spot a variety of birds, including the stunning Great Blue Turaco and the rare Papyrus Gonolek. It’s also home to various primates and more elusive animals, like the Red Colobus monkey and the Sitatunga antelope. You’ll also see an abundance of butterflies and unique plants.

While you’re there, you’ll also have the chance to visit local community projects before heading to your lodge to check in for the night.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Your day will start with an early morning breakfast before you transfer to the park’s main office. There, you’ll receive a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees. Following the briefing, you will enter the forest for a full-day trek. A park ranger will guide you, and you’ll want to have your tracking gear, water, and snacks with you. Once you find the primates, you will spend four hours observing their behavior and taking photos. After the tracking experience, you will return to the lodge to relax, have dinner, and stay the night.

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth National Park

embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park; it’s a 3–4-hour drive. Arriving there at noon for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, where you will get an opportunity to see several bird species, elephants and buffalo, hippos and crocodiles at the lake shores. Later in the afternoon, enjoy an evening game drive in the Kasenyi area, where you will encounter some of the park’s residents like lions, antelopes, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, and waterbucks.

Day 10: Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable

you will wake up early, have breakfast, and embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It’s 5-7 hours, seeing the beautiful sights along the way.

Day 11: Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek itself takes you through steep, densely forested hills and winding paths. Finding the gorillas, which are often camouflaged in the vegetation, is a truly inspiring and privileged moment. Since trekking in the Bwindi Forest requires stamina and can take most of the day, you’ll spend an hour in the presence of the gorillas once you find them. You’re welcome to take pictures. After the experience, you’ll return to your starting point to receive a certificate for a successful trek, then head back to your lodge.

Day 12:Transfer To Kampala

After breakfast, start your journey back to Kampala with an en route stop at the equator and lunch, about an 8-hour drive, and upon arrival, check into your accommodation.

Day 13: Fly To Masai Mara National Park

On the 13th day of your 25 Days East African Safari, after an early morning breakfast, connect for your flight departing for Entebbe airport at 12:15 and arriving at 14:30 in Maasai Mara National Park. On arrival, you will be met by your safari guide and embark to connect to your lodge in Masai Mara National Park for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 14-15:Full Day Game Drive In Masai Mara National Park

After breakfast, spend a full day in the park with a packed lunch in search of its popular residents. The Maasai Mara plains are full of wildebeests during migration season early July to the end of September. However, they are not guaranteed to be viewed, zebra, impala, topi, giraffe, and Thomson’s gazelle are regularly seen. Leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes can also be seen. Black rhinos are a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance if you are lucky. Hippos are abundant in the Mara River as are very large Nile crocodiles, which lay in wait for a meal as the wildebeest cross on their annual quest to find new pastures. Later Meals and overnight at the lodge.

Day 16: Transfer To Nairobi

After breakfast on day 16 of your safari, you’ll travel to Nairobi. On the way, you’ll stop at a Maasai market for lunch and a cultural experience. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to buy Maasai souvenirs.

Once you arrive in Nairobi, you’ll visit the elephant orphanage and the giraffe park before checking into your accommodation for dinner and the night.

Day 17:Transfer To Amboseli National Park

Today, after a morning meal and check-out, you will meet your guide for the 5–6-hour drive to Amboseli National Park. A stop for lunch will be made along the way. Known for its breathtaking views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli’s open plains are home to a diverse array of animals. Your late afternoon arrival will be marked by a game drive to your lodge, where you may spot predators and their prey, such as zebras, wildebeest, giraffe, and hippo, all set against the majestic backdrop of the mountain.

Day 18: Full Day Game Drive In Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you’ll explore Amboseli National Park. The park is renowned as the prime location in Africa to see free-ranging elephants up close. Beyond the elephants, you’ll also have the opportunity to encounter the Maasai people and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain.

Day 19: Transfer To Arusha

After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the Namanga border to meet your Tanzanian guide. The scenic drive from the border to Arusha is a journey of approximately four to five hours.

Day 20: Visit Tarangire National Park

transfer to Tarangire National Park. It’s a 4–5-hour drive from Arusha. Arrive at a good time for lunch. Later afternoon, enjoy the game drive in search of animals like Elephants, Lions, Giraffes, Zebras, Baboons, and others.

Day 21: Evening Game Drive In Serengeti

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Serengeti National Park. If you didn’t see the Wildebeest migration in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, this is your chance. The herds are typically in the central Serengeti around April, May, and early June.

You’ll arrive in time for lunch, and then head out for an afternoon game drive. Later, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 22:Full Day Game Viewing In Serengeti

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you’ll meet your driver and begin the journey to Serengeti National Park, with a packed lunch ready for you. The central part of the park is famous for its large number of lions and other diverse wildlife.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll embark on a game drive through the Central Serengeti. This area offers the chance to see a wide range of animals, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, and various antelope species. As the day winds down, you’ll head back to your lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 23: Transfer To Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a packed lunch ready for your journey. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to visit the Ol Duvai Gorge, an important archaeological site. You will also have a unique cultural experience with the Maasai people, who live within the conservation area. Later in the afternoon, you will arrive at your lodge to relax before dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 24: Full Day At Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera. This unique ecosystem is home to a wide variety of wildlife, supported by a consistent, year-round water supply.

During your safari, you’ll have the chance to see herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, and hippos. The crater also has a high concentration of predators, including lions, hyenas, and jackals. With a keen eye, you might even spot the elusive leopard or cheetahs.

The crater’s main feature is Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake. The lake attracts a great number of flamingos and other birds, making it a spectacular spot for bird watching. You will also see hippos enjoying the lake’s shores.

Day 25: Transfer To Arusha & Departure

On the last day of your 25-day East African Safari, after your breakfast, meet your Rosamy Africa safari guide and embark on your journey to Arusha. It’s a 4-hour drive from Ngorongoro. The driver will drop you off at the airport.
