Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival In Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), your dedicated Driver-Guide will be waiting to meet you.
First, he’ll conduct a brief, essential safari orientation, providing all necessary information and tips to guide you smoothly through your trip.
After the briefing, you’ll be comfortably transferred to your hotel. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and settle in for the night, preparing for your exciting drive to Serengeti National Park bright and early the next morning.
Accommodation: Green Mountain Arusha
Day 2: Visit Tarangire National Park
Today, we proceed directly to Tarangire National Park for an unforgettable full-day game drive. Located slightly off the main circuit, this lovely northern Tanzania park offers a wonderfully quiet atmosphere. Tarangire is most famous for its spectacular annual elephant migration and provides an excellent birding safari experience. We’ll spend the entire day traversing this peaceful wildlife sanctuary.
Accommodation: Fanaka Lodge
Day 3: Drive To Lake Manyara
We’ll begin by picking you up from your hotel for the scenic drive to Lake Manyara National Park.
The park gets its unique name from the Maasai word, “manyara,” which is the Swahili term for the pencil-tree plant (Euphorbia tirucalli). Significantly, the Maasai utilize this resilient plant to construct livestock stockades, which ultimately mature into incredibly durable, stock-proof hedges.
As you travel, you’ll witness the dramatic Great Rift Valley. This massive geological fault in the Earth’s crust stretches an incredible 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey all the way to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. In fact, the Rift Valley is so enormous that astronauts clearly saw it when they landed on the moon.
Accommodation: Endoro Lodge
Day 4: Game Drive In Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we’ll head out for an early morning game drive inside the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater.
This journey takes you into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA). This is an extensive highland region along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, focused on the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Crucially, the NCA was established not only to conserve wildlife and natural resources. But also to safeguard the interests of the indigenous people and promote sustainable tourism.
Widely considered the 8th Natural Wonder of the World, the crater is a breathtaking geological marvel. With walls towering 2,000 feet high and a floor spanning 102 square miles, the crater acts as a virtual Noah’s Ark. In fact, it boasts the planet’s greatest concentration of wildlife, including almost every species indigenous to East Africa, such as the rare black rhino. The floor itself contains a river, a soda lake (often appearing like steam from above, teeming with flamingos), a forest, and open plains.
You’ll notice the massive bull elephants here have unusually large tusks; this is due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.
Today, you will descend 2,000 feet (over 600 meters) to the crater floor for an unforgettable half-day crater tour. We’ll explore the forest areas where monkeys and elephants reside, visit the lake to spot flamingos, and traverse the open savannah where lions actively hunt.
Later, we drive on to Serengeti National Park to continue your epic safari.
Accommodation: Mawe Tented Camp
Day 5: Explore Northern Serengeti
Following breakfast, you’ll transfer to the Arusha airstrip for your flight to Serengeti North. Departing around 7:00 AM and arriving by 10:00 AM, you’ll immediately begin a thrilling game drive in the Northern Mara region.
The Serengeti is globally famed for its incredible wildlife and stunning landscapes, but it’s most renowned for the annual Great Migration. Here, you’ll witness over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras in a frenzied quest for survival.
Specifically, from July to October, watch the actual “survival of the fittest” unfold as these animals plunge through the crocodile-infested waters of the Mara River. Before this 1,000 km (600) pilgrimage begins again, the wildebeest collectively produce over 8,000 calves daily.
Accommodation: Mawe tented camp
Day 6: Game Drive In Northern Serengeti
After breakfast, we will depart for an exciting game drive in Serengeti North, focusing on viewing the magnificent Great Migration.
Specifically, the spectacular river crossings at Kogatende begin in August as the mega-herd settles into the area. Consequently, game viewing is at its absolute best between August and October, with river crossings practically guaranteed every single day.
Unlike a distinct, one-way push, the herds tend to move back and forth across the river, actively following the scattered rains and the subsequent growth of fresh grasses. Join us to witness this epic, unpredictable spectacle of nature.
Accommodation: Mawe tented camp
Day 7: Drive Back To Arusha
Following breakfast, we head back to Arusha. On the way back, we’ll stop by a local shopping market for some last-minute souvenir hunting . Finally, we will facilitate your comfortable transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), ensuring you reach your flight on time. Thank you for choosing our safari.
