Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & transfer to Serengeti National Park
Your incredible 3-day Serengeti Safari begins when we pick you up from your hotel in Arusha or directly from the airport. Your driver immediately transfers you to the world-famous Serengeti National Park.
Upon arrival at your camp or lodge, you will enjoy a sumptuous meal. After lunch, take some time to unwind before we embark on your first exhilarating game drive. As you travel, your guide will teach you more about this renowned reserve while you look for the incredible wildlife and unique flora that thrive here.
The Serengeti is not just a park; it is one of the world’s oldest ecosystems, with its climate, flora, and fauna remaining largely constant for over a million years. Crucially, the Serengeti serves as one of the last natural migratory corridors on Earth.
This environment maintains the inherent, powerful instinct that drives the annual Great Migration. This is where nearly 2 million wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras trek across the plains—a sight so strong that neither drought nor crocodile-infested rivers can stop it.
Even outside the migration season, the Serengeti remains classic Big 5 terrain. You will spot a diverse range of species across this immense landscape, guaranteeing spectacular wildlife viewing year-round.
Day 2: Full Day Serengeti Exploration
The iconic Serengeti National Park spans a massive 14,700 km. However, its main attraction is the estimated 3 million creatures that call this park home.
The Serengeti’s Abundant Wildlife
Throughout the day, you will see massive numbers of both grazing animals and their predators. Expect to encounter the full spectrum of wildlife, including wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, and elephants. You will also spot giraffes, hippos, and various bird species like the ostrich. Crucially, the continuous interaction between these species provides some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in the entire world.
Optimizing Your Viewing Experience
Your day of exploring begins with an early morning game drive before sunrise. Then, you will continue with another exciting afternoon game drive later in the day. We focus on these cooler hours because the animals are significantly more active and engaged during this time. Finally, you will return to your camp during the hottest part of the afternoon for a relaxing break, followed by a delicious dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive & Departure
To begin your final day, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast before embarking on one last morning game drive in the Serengeti.
Exploring Simba Kopjes
During this drive, you may visit the famous Simba Kopjes—rock outcrops that act as high perches for lions and cheetahs. (Simba is the Swahili word for lion, while kopje means ‘small head’ in Afrikaans.) Keep your camera ready as these big cats are frequently seen basking in the early sun on top, or using the rocks to conceal their cubs.
Following this final game drive, you will start your journey back to Arusha. Upon arrival, your driver will transfer you directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home, concluding your unforgettable Serengeti safari.
