Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrivals, Hotel Transfers

When you arrive at Zanzibar Airport, our driver will welcome you to the island. From the airport, you are transferred to your overnight hotel. The rest of the first day is free for you to rest after your trip. Take a swim in the pool or head out and see the sights of Zanzibar City.

In the evening, you can go on a culinary adventure at the Forodhani Market in Forodhani Gardens. The gardens are located along the seashore and are very popular for a daytime stroll to enjoy the views of some of Stone Town’s historical buildings.

But it is at night that the gardens come alive, with the bustling evening market. Feast on Zanzibar seafood, pizza, falafel as big as your face, sugar cane juice, enormous samosas, coconut bread, and crepes dripping with ribbons of chocolate syrup. Alternatively, you can end the first day of your Zanzibar vacation with sundowners on the hotel terrace and dine in the hotel restaurant.

Day 2:  Prison Island, Nakupenda Sandbank, Welcome Dinner

After breakfast at around 9.30 am, our driver will take you from your hotel for a 30-minute boat ride to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island.  Formerly owned by the Oman Arabs, Prison Island was privately used as a place of detention for disobedient slaves. It was established in 1893 as a central prison for Zanzibar, hence the name ‘Prison Island’.

Our tour guide will give you more history of this incredible Island, and then you will have a fun time feeding the Giant tortoises and taking photos with them. These Aldabra giant tortoises are among the largest in the world and are said to be one of the longest-lived creatures in the world. It’s estimated that the oldest tortoise on Changuu is 196 years old, which is a great tourist attraction in Zanzibar.

Later, take a short boat trip to the nearby Nakupenda sand bank, get prepared to snorkel, swim, and have a taste  of mouth-watering tropical fruits with delicious seafood under the shade of built umbrellas.

Day 3: Jozani Forest/The Rock Restaurant, Kae Beach.

After breakfast at about 9 am, you will be transferred to Jozani Forest, where you will have 2-3 hours of exploring the forest on a nature walk to see Red Colobus monkeys, and you can visit the nearby Butterfly Centre (if interested).

Jozani Forest is the largest area of indigenous forest on Zanzibar Island. Situated south of Chwaka Bay, the whole area is protected as Jozani-Chwaka National Park, and is famously home to populations of Zanzibar red colobus monkey (an endangered species found only on Zanzibar) as well as other monkey species and more than 40 species of birds.

In the afternoon (1.30 pm), you will be driven to Michamvi/Paje beach (East Coast) for a beach break, including visiting the Rock Restaurant for Lunch/Dinner, or just for a drink.

You will then enjoy beach relaxation up to 4 pm before driving to Kae Beach for sunset watching with an acrobatic dance. After sunset, you will drive to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Free Day

Wake up in paradise and enjoy a full day of freedom to indulge in the beautiful island surroundings.

Take the opportunity to snorkel in the transparent waters, walk the stretch of powder white sand, and paddle in the bath-like Indian Ocean, dine on freshly caught sumptuous seafood, or simply relax in a hammock underneath a coconut tree with a good book.

There are many ways you can spend your day – perhaps talk to your leader for any recommendations. Overnight is in the same hotel on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

Day 5: Maasai World, Swimming With Turtles, Lunch At Kendwa Rocks, Beach Relaxation

After breakfast at 09:30 am, drive to Nungwi. Have a one-hour Maasai World tour to learn about Maasai culture right in Zanzibar. You’ll see the tools and clothes traditionally used by Maasai people and get to try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow.

Get the chance to ask questions about local customs from the Maasai people. From 12 pm to 1 pm, you will go swimming with Sea Turtles in Nungwi (Baraka Turtle Aquarium) before enjoying lunch and beach relaxation at Kendwa Beach.

Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel.

Day 6: Stone Town City Visit, Lunch At Cape Town Fish Market, Sunset Cruise

Your leisurely breakfast today will be followed by a drive to Stone for city walking and final shopping. A guide will walk with you around the narrow streets of the historic Stone Town. Explore the mosques, palaces, and courtyards.

Visit the Darajani Market, where you will be able to randomly shop from souvenir shops and take Instagrammable photos, exploring the culture of the Swahili people. After that, enjoy a delightful lunch at Cape Town Fish Market.

When the sun is setting, go for a sunset cruise in a semi-luxury Yacht. End your day with a farewell dinner with a DJ, Acrobatic dance, and a Bonfire.

Day 7: Back Home

After breakfast today, you have free time to pack and drive to Zanzibar International Airport/Ferry to Dar es Salaam for the flight back home/your next destination. Safe Travels!
