Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport- Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), your dedicated transfer driver will meet you and provide a seamless transfer to your comfortable hotel in Moshi. Spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring the vibrant town of Moshi. In the evening, you will attend a crucial, on-site briefing with your tour operator team to prepare for your incredible Kilimanjaro trekking adventure. Overnight in Moshi.
Day 2: Moshi- Marangu gate ( 1,840 m) Mandara hut ( 2,670m )
Your day begins with breakfast, followed by a transfer to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1,840m). After finalizing park formalities, we enter the dense, emerald rainforest! This section of the Kilimanjaro trek takes about 4 hours. Watch closely for the striking black and white Colobus monkeys overhead. Our goal for the day is the scenic Mandara Hut (2,650m). In the late afternoon, your guide will take you to the nearby Maundi Crater for panoramic views across Kenya. Enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay at Mandara Hut. (Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3: Mandara Hut (2,670m) Horombo Hut (3720m)
Your day starts with an early breakfast at Mandara Hut. Shortly after departing, you will swiftly leave the dense rainforest behind and cross the treeline, thus entering the spectacular alpine moorland zone, characterized by shrubs and giant heathers. Nevertheless, after a challenging but rewarding $4$ to $6$-hour trek, the iconic Horombo Hut ($3,720$m) will finally come into view. Crucially, from this vantage point, you are rewarded with breathtaking, clear views of Mawenzi Peak, Kibo Peak, and the vast Masai Steppe stretching far below.Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut. Day 4: Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Zebra Rocks (3,980m) – Horombo Hut ( 3,720m)
Today is crucial for successful Kilimanjaro summiting. This dedicated acclimatization day significantly improves your chances of reaching the top! After a relaxing breakfast, we embark on a vital “trek high, sleep low” hike to the fascinating Zebra Rocks (3,980m), named for their distinctive black and white stripes. This gentle 2 to 4-hour trek helps your body adjust to the altitude. Upon returning to Horombo Hut, a hot, cooked lunch awaits. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and conserving energy for the ascent tomorrow. Overnight at Horombo Hut. (B, L, D).
Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Kibo Hut (4,700m)
This day is a long and challenging stage! We begin by passing the “Last Water Point.” Subsequently, we enter the infamous Alpine Desert habitat. Our path takes us across the vast, high-altitude plateau known as The Saddle, which dramatically links the towering peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. This stark, nearly plantless landscape is incredibly challenging. After approximately 5 to 7 hours of trekking, you will reach Kibo Hut (4,750m), your base camp for the final summit push. Tonight requires an early dinner and an early sleep, as the wake-up call for the Kilimanjaro summit climb comes at around 23:00h. (B, L, D).
Day 6: Kibo Hut (4,700m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) Horombo Hut (4,700m)
The long-awaited summit push starts around midnight from Kibo Hut ($4,700$m).
The Ascent Goal: Reach the “Roof of Africa”—Uhuru Peak ($5,895$m)—for a spectacular sunrise view. The Challenge: The trek is strenuous, moving slowly in the dark to landmarks like Hans Meyer Cave ($5,200$m) and the crater rim at Gilman’s Point ($5,715$m). The Reward: After 1-2 more hours from the rim, you stand victorious at the highest point in Africa.
The Descent: The return path uses the thawed lava ash for a quick descent back to Kibo Hut for a warm meal. The long day concludes with an afternoon trek down to Horombo Hut ($3,720$m) for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,720m) – Marangu Gate (1,840m)- Moshi
Truly, this is the grand finale of your trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. You will complete the final descent back to the gate, concluding your trek. Immediately following the official sign-out, you will finally celebrate your monumental Kilimanjaro summit success with much-deserved rest and revelry in Moshi!
Final Stage: You trek through the moorland and heather, arriving at Mandara Hut ($2,670$m) for a hot lunch.
The Descent: The final 6-hour trek is through the beautiful rainforest, bringing you to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate ($1,840$m).
Celebration: At the gate, you say goodbye to your crew and get your summit certificate.
Moshi Hotel: A driver takes you to your hotel in Moshi for a warm shower, dinner, and a well-deserved rest to celebrate conquering Mount Kilimanjaro!
